What Are The Ingredients For 5-Spice Beef and Rice Recipe?The ingredients for 5-Spice Beef and Rice are: 2 C fat free Beef stock (canned or homemade)2 T canola or extra-light olive oil 1 1/2 # beef sirloin, fat trimmed, cut into bite-sized peices 2 green peppers, seeded and diced 1 medium onion, diced large 1/2 C water 2 T Tamari (dark soy) or reduced-sodium soy sauce 2 T cornstarch 1 teaspoon 5-spice powder black pepper to taste 3 scallions, sliced at an angle, for garnish 1 1/2 C cooked brown rice, kept warm How Do I Make 5-Spice Beef and Rice?Here is how you make 5-Spice Beef and Rice: In a small saucepan, warm beef broth. Heat a large pan over high heat and add oil. Add beef and stir-fry for 3 minutes, until browned. Remove from pan and set aside. Add onions and peppers an stir-fry 2 minutes. Add meat (and any juice) back in and add water. Stir-fry, loosening any brown bits from pan, about 1 minute, until water evaporates. Add soy sauce and stir to combine. In a small bowl, add cornstarch and a ladle of warm beef broth. Mix thoroughly. Add remaining beef broth from saucepan into large pan with beef mixture. Add cornstarch mix, 5-spice powder and black pepper. Cook until thick and liquid coats the back of a spoon.
