1 cup frozen pearl onions
16oz trimmed beef round steak, cut into bite size pcs
1 cup red wine
15 oz canned kidney beans, rinsed & drained
15 oz canned black beans, rinsed & drained
3 lg carrots, cut into 1" pieces
3 lg stalks celery, cut into 1" piec es
2 cups fat-free beef broth
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp ground thyme
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp table salt
1 bay leaf
1 Jalapeno chopped (if desired)

Here is how you make Wine Stew:

Preheat oven to 325.Heast oil over medium high heat in heavy bottom dutch oven. Saute onions & garlic for 5-7 minutes, or until browned. Remove from pan. Cook beef in pan without crowding for 6-8 minutes until browned, set aside meat. Add wine to pan and bring to a boil, scraping any browned bits off bottom of pan. Stir in remaining ingredients, including meat, and bring to a low boil. Cover and bake stew in preheated oven for 1.5 hours, or until beef is fork tender.
