4 tsp chili oil
1/2 lb. asparagus, trimmed and cut on diagonal
3/4 lb. flank steak or other tender cut sliced into
thin strips 2 inches long x 1/4 inch wide
3/4 c. of red, green and yellow pepper strips
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
Stir fry Sauce:
2 tsp. cornstarch dissolved in 3 tbsp. water
3 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. finely chopped fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced;
1 spring onion, including green tops, minced

1 cup rice (prep this first, then assemble stir fry above)

Here is how you make Asparagus Stir Fry:

Method:1. Make stir-fry Sauce: Mix together all sauce ingredients. (If you don't have commercially prepared chili oil, you can make it quickly by heating 1/2 cup canola oil and 1/8 c. red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring almost to a boil, then turn off the heat and let cool. Strain into a glass container with lid. Keeps indefinitely in the refrigerator.) Set the sauce aside.2. In a wok or deep frying pan, heat 2 tsp. of chili oil over high heat, swirling to cover the bottom of the pan. When oil is hot, add the asparagus and stir-fry until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a holding dish.3. Add another 2 tsp. of oil to the pan over high heat, again coating the pan. Add the beef or pork strips and stir-fry until lightly browned , 2-3 minutes.4. Add the pepper strips and mushrooms. Stir-fry until the pepper begins to soften, 1-2 minutes. Quickly stir in the stir-fry sauce. Stir-fry until the sauce thicken, 1-2 minutes.
