Add the diet pop, I like the diet dr.pepper or diet coke.
Mix well and pour into 2 round cake pans. Bake approx 30 mins or until cake is done. Let cool. Crush butterfinger candy bar set aside. To assemble:
place 1 round of cake on plate, use a thin piece of spagetti or a thin skewer to poke hole over to drizzle 2 TBPS of carmel topping over cake let soak in. Spread 1/2 tub of defrosted cool whip over cake layer sprinkle with approx 1/4 of crushed candy bar. Top with 2nd layer and repeat with carmel topping,remaing cool whip and dust with rest of candy bar. Drizzle chocolate syrup over top. I place a few drained marshino cherries on top to decorate. Keep in fridge til serving. Cut into 24 thin slices.
