2C sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. shortening
1C buttermilk(I add 1 tbsp. vinegar to 1 cup of 2% milk, let stand 5 minutes and use)
1/4 c melted butter (I don't use this)



How Do I Make Fake Buttermilk Biscuits?

Here is how you make Fake Buttermilk Biscuits:

Combine flour(sift), salt, soda, baking powder in a mixing bowl; cut the shortening in until fine crumbs. Add fake buttermilk and stir quickly until mixed. Will be sticky at first. Turn out on very lightly floured broad. Knead gently several times. Pat out 1/4 inch thick this is where you can spread 1/2 the butter that I don't use. If you do this then fold over forming two layers and use rest of butter on top. Cut into rounds with floured biscuit cutter ( I use a glass). Place on buttered ( I use Pam lightly) 9 in pan. Place 1/2 inch apart. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Serve hot.Serving Size: 5 large biscuits or 8 medium Number of Servings: 1Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user SBC1958.
