5 TBSP of jam or preserves


How Do I Make Homemade Poptarts?

Here is how you make Homemade Poptarts:

Whip 4 TBSP butter with 1 TBSP sugar and refrigerate for 30 minutes. In a food processor, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add cut pieces of butter and pulse 10 times quickly. Add whipped butter/sugar mixture and pulse 30-40 times until it is mixed and crumbly. Remove mixture into a small bowl and add 3 TBSP of cold water. Press mixture together until it forms a soft ball and sticks together. Add water by a teaspoon at a time if it is not sticking. Flatten ball into a small disk and wrap with plastic. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 F. Remove and split dough in two pieces. Roll dough until it is semi transparent and approximately 1/4 inch thick. Cut into bread size slices and place on to a cookie sheet. Spread 1/2 TBSP of jam or preserves on each piece, leaving a small edge to seal with a second piece of dough. Cut the top pieces from the second half of the dough that you roll out as you did the first half. Press edges together to create a seal. Pierce the top layer of dough with a fork several times. Turn oven down to 350F and place the cookie sheet into the oven. Bake for 30 minutes. Check after 15 minutes and re-poke your holes with the fork and turn your cookie tray for even baking.
