Prepare the apples (I leave the skin on, and just core and slice them). Meanwhile, heat the butter in a skillet, over medium heat. Add the apples, sprinkle with cinnamon and salt, drizzle with water, and cook, covered, for 8 minutes. Once softened, take off the lid and mix, so that the cinnamon is evenly distributed (the water will begin to cook down). Then, drizzle with maple syrup.
