.5 cup criso shortening ( sub 1/2 cup butter)
2 eggs

sift together 2.5 cups flour, 2.5 tsp Baking Soda and .5 tsp of salt

add half of the 2 cups of buttermilk to the egg mix then half of the flour, then remaining of each

add the bran to the mixture, run a spatula around the edge of the bowl to ensure thorough mixing.

put 2 tbsp of batter paper cups in muffin pan.. cook at 400 for 15-16 minutes for fresh batter, 17-18 minutes for refrigerated batter.

batter keeps for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
