Here is how you make Blackberry Blessing Cake:

*Preheat oven to 350 degrees** Lightly oil and flour a 9 inch by 13 inch baking panIn a medium bowl mix together:Oil,applesauce,sugar,eggs, vanilla and cinnamon.Stir to blend.To this mixture add self-rising flour and stir until blended, gradually add the half-cup of milk. Beat by hand until smooth.Pour into prepared pan and bake in 350 degree oven on center rack for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.While cake bakes, prepare blackberries.In medium sauce pan add 1 cup water1 cup granulated sugar1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or lemon juiceCook over medium heat stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture starts to simmer.Toss rinsed blackberries with cornstarch and add to sugar syrup. Cook until sauce starts to thicken slighly and remove from heat.When cake is done, remove from oven and place pan on wire rack. Cool in pan until warm to touch. Use a wooden dowl or the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes in top of still warm cake.
