Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add to creamed lard mix. Beat eggs and vanilla together and add to flour mix slowly. If mix is dry, add a touch of milk (not usually necessary). Mix in currants. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into rounds. Pre-heat griddle to 400 degrees. Place rounds on griddle and cook to golden brown.
