I substituted ground turkey, low fat ricotta and mozzarella cheese to make this lower in fat. I made it the night before and put it in the refrigerator. I served it while we were camping the next day and it was a big hit with everyone. I used the no cook lasagna noodles and it really saved a lot of time. They came out very tender. This is also great for a dinner party because you can make it ahead of time.

1.25 lbs lean ground turkey
1/2 lb. ground Italian sausage
1 cup chopped onions
3 cloves garlic
3 teaspoons fresh thyme
3 tablespoons fresh basil
2 eggs
1 15 oz container of low fat ricotta cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
4 cups low fat mozzarella cheese
2 jars spaghetti or marinara sauce
1 pkg of no cook lasagna noodles


How Do I Make Low Fat Lasagna?

Here is how you make Low Fat Lasagna:

saute onions and garlic until tenderbrown turkey and sausageadd both jars saucecombine 2 eggs, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese and 2 cups mozzarella cheese in a medium bowlPut small amount of meat and sauce in bottom of 13x9x3 lasagna pan. Overlap 4 lasagna noodles leaving space around outside edges so sauce will seal around the edges of the noodles. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, put another layer of sauce and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, put 4 more of the noodles, spread another layer of ricotta mixture and sauce mixture, put the final four noodle, final 1/3 of ricotta mixture, sauce and the final cup of mozzarella cheese. Cover with aluminum foil. You can either refrigerate it over night, or pop it in a preheated 375 degree oven and bake for 55 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese is bubbling. This makes 12 four inch squares.
