Butter, very cold cut into small pieces 1/3 cup milk, non fat 1/3 cup buttermilk, lowfat 1/3 cup egg substitute 1 t. almond extract garnish with dusting of powdered sugar (not counted in calories) How Do I Make Almond Scones?Here is how you make Almond Scones: You'll need a food processeor that can hold 11 cups for this recipe.Place the almonds in the processor and process until they are fine crumbs. Add remaining dry ingredients and pulse few times to mix. Add the butter and process until incorporated well.Now, iwth the processor on, add the wet ingredients throught the feed tube. Continue to mix, just until it all comes together and forms a ball. Do not overmix.The dough will be a little sticky. when you remove it from the processor, so you can dump it in your flour bin to coat it lightly. Next, divide it into two balls. Flatten each ball in to a disk about 8 to 10" in diameter and 1-2" thick. Take a long knife of pizza cutter and cut the circles into 8 even wedges. Using parchment paper on a baking sheet, sprayed with butter flavor non stick coating spray. Plce the 16 pieces on the paper on the baking sheet.Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar once cooled.
