Whole wheat flour 3 cups (I use King Arthur)
Brown Sugar, 2 tbsp
Sugar, 0.5 cup
Salt, 1 dash
Baking Soda, 1 tsp

Butter, unsalted, 1 stick softened at room temperature
Plain yogurt (greek style) 6 oz container
Egg, fresh, 2
Amaretto or almond extract, 1 tbsp.

Sesame seeds roasted, 2 tbsp for topping.


How Do I Make Almond and Sesame Crescents?

Here is how you make Almond and Sesame Crescents:

1.Mix dry ingredients firstCrushed Almonds, Sugar, Salt, Baking soda and just 1 cup of flour. 2.Add soft butter to dry ingredients and mix well. Add eggs. !!!Note Save one egg yolk for brushing on top of the crescents it will help the sesame seeds stick better to the top.3. Add youurt and Amaretto.4. Start adding remaining flour slowly. When the dough stops sticking to your fingers but still soft it is ready. 5. Make a ball out of the dough and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.6.Preheat oven to 325 F7. Separate dough into two balls and roll each one out.8. Cut into 8 triangles (imagine a cake or a clock)And roll each triangle into a crescent starting with the thicker outer end. Make sure to bend them a bit after you roll them so the look like cute crescents. 9. Brush each one with a but of egg yolk and roll in toasted sesame seeds or sugar.10. Arrange rolled crescents in a greased baking sheet and bake till ready.!!! Note: you do not have to leave a lot of space between the rolls on the tray because they keep their shape very well. 11. I bake them for 40 minutes. Baking time might be shorter, it depends on you over. They are ready when the edges look golden brown.12. Cool and enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea!Serving Size:?Makes 16 large crescents
