1 egg , separated
2/3 cup skim milk
5 to 6 apples, cored and diced
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 -4 tsp water


How Do I Make Danish Apple Bars?

Here is how you make Danish Apple Bars:

Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut flour and salt with shortening until the size of small peas. Combine egg yolk and milk together and add to flour mixture. Using hands to pull together into a ball. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Roll 1/2 of dough on floured board to fit a 10X15 jelly roll pan. Spread the apples over dough. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.Roll out remaining dough to fit over top. Seal the 4 edges well and brush top with beaten egg white . Bake at 400 F for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned on top.While pastry is still warm, combine the icing sugar, vanilla and water and drizzle over top with tines of a fork.
