6 eggs
3 cups milk (skim works fine)
3/4 cup maple syrup
2 t. ground cinnamon + 1 T. for topping
1/4 t. salt
1 lemon, zested
3 (1 inch thick) slices day old challah ,sourdough bread cut into cubes (8 oz)
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
3 tablespoons granulated sugar


How Do I Make Baked French Toast?

Here is how you make Baked French Toast:

Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9x13 baking dish. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Add the milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, salt and lemon zest. Add the bread cubes (I have always made this with challah bread but the recipe says challah or sourdough). Mix until coated. Stir in the blueberries. Pour the mixture in to the baking dish. In a small bowl mix the tablespoon of cinnamon and the sugar. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the egg mixture in an even layer.Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.
