In another bowl, combine the next 5 (dry) ingredients and stir to mix well. Add the moist ingredients to the dry. Stir until blended into a thick batter. Fold in the dates and almonds to distribute evenly through the batter. Turn into prepared loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees 55 to 60 minutes, until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan before turning out onto a wire rack.
