Here is how you make Banana Pudding Custard from Scratch:

Combine sugar, flour, and cornstarch in a medium bowl, set aside. Pour milk into large sauce pan and heat to 160 degrees on candy maker. Stir 1/4 of milk into beaten egg yolks, now pour that mixture into dry ingredients, then add that mixture to remainder of milk. Cook until mixture thickens and coats spoon. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. cool to room temperature, in large pyrex baking dish layer nilla wafers, then bananas, then pour 1/2 of pudding on top, do another layer of wafers and bananas, another layer of pudding, on top of last pudding layer, crumble 1/3 of nilla wafers to sprinkle on top.
