Trying to approximate the delicious maple walnut cookies that Avenue Bread serves. The original recipe called for 1/2 cup of shortening, but I'm subbing 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup margarine, because I just can't see Avenue baking cookies with no butter in them.Adapted from a recipe by "Joe" of Minneapolis, blogging on desertculinary.blogspot.com.
