* Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
* Almonds, .5 cup, slivered
* Raisins, 1 cup
* Whole Wheat Flour, 2 cup


How Do I Make Date-Nut Bread?

Here is how you make Date-Nut Bread:

In a medium mixing bowl combine dates and raisins. Pour boiling water over mixture. Set aside to soften fruit and to cool slightly.Lightly grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan; set aside. In a large mixing bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, bakign powder, and salt. Stir the egg whites and vanilla into the cooled date mixture. Add the date mixture and the almonds to the flour mixture; stir till well combined (mixture will be thick). Spoon batter evenly into a prepared ban. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center of loaf comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool thoroughly on a wire rack.
