8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
3 tsps unsalted butter
4 eggs
1 3/4 c granulated sugar
1/3 c water
3/4 tsp almond extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 8-oz package low fat cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp flour
1 c peeled, cored and chopped pear
1 1/4 tsp ground ginger
2 tbsp powdered sugar


How Do I Make Ginger-Pear Brownies?

Here is how you make Ginger-Pear Brownies:

1. Combine chocolate and butter in saucepan over low heat until melted. Remove from heat and cool.2. Beat 2 eggs until foamy, add 1 1/4 c sugar, water and 1/2 tsp almond extract. Beat 5 minutes or until lemon-colored. Beat in chocolate mixture. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Spread 2 cups of batter in prepared pan. Set aside, wash beaters in warm water.3. For pear filling, in medium bowl beat cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining 1/2 c sugar, 2 eggs, 1/4 tsp almond extract and 2 tbsp flour; beat until combined. Stir in pears and nuts if desired and 1 tsp of ground ginger. Spoon pear filling over batter, then spoon mounds of remaining chocolate batter over pear filling and swirl to marble.4. Bake about 40 minutes or until set. Cool on wire rack, cover and store in refrigerator within 2 hours.5. To serve, stir together 2 tbsp powdered sugar and 1/4 tsp ginger.
