This is the original Bonnie Butter Cake from the Betty Crocker recipe collection, but instead of the French Chocolate Silk frosting, it is made with my mom's family favorite cooked frosting. I didn't realize the Bonnie Butter Cake was such a popular recipe, when I saw it was made with the Chocolate icing, I thought "YUCK"! I can't imagine it any other way than with my mom's frosting.

Butter, salted, .5 cup
Shortening, Crisco, .5 cup
Granulated Sugar, 1 cup

Here is how you make Bonnie Butter Cake with White Coconut Frosting:

Serving Size:?16Cake:Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla 5 minutes on high speed. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add to egg/sugar mixture in 4 additions, alternating with milk. Start and end with dry ingredients. Blend on low speed JUST till smooth. Bake at 350 for 30-35 for 2 9.5 in round pans or 45 - 50 minutes in 13x9.5x2 rectangular pan.Frosting:Boil flour and milk till thick paste. Stir constantly. Cool. Cream together shortening, butter, and sugar and add flour mixture 1T at a time to creamed mixture and beat well after each addition.
