How Do I Make Half Pound Cake?

Here is how you make Half Pound Cake:

Butter and flour a 9" loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 deg. F.Cream butter and sugar together using medium speed on a hand or stand mixer (or very strong biceps!) for 5 minutes, till extremely light and fluffy.With mixer on lowest speed, add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly so that each egg is fully incorporated before the next is added. Scrape sides of bowl down after last egg is incorporated, add vanilla and salt, then beat at medium speed for 30 seconds. With mixer on lowest speed, add 1/3 of the flour and beat till completely incorporated. Add next 1/3 of the flour and beat till completely incorporated. Add remaining flour and beat just till mixed. Scrape down sides and bottom of bowl, then beat at medium speed for 30 seconds. Scrape batter into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until cake is nicely browned and springy to the touch. Let cool a bit before removing from pan, then cool on wire rack. Don't cut into cake until it is completely cool.Goes fabulously with sliced fresh fruit (persimmons are my favorite!).
