What Are The Ingredients For Cake balls (or pops) Recipe?

The ingredients for Cake balls (or pops) are:

1 box cake mix
3 eggs
.25 cup cooking oil
1 and 1/2 cup water
1 16 0z. tub of premade frosting
1 pound of candy melts coating chocolate
Sucker sticks (sold at baking and craft shops)

The calories are based on the "pudding type" cake mix and the full can of frosting. You could also modify with egg beaters, or any other way you normally "lighten up" a cake recipe or you can use a homemade recipe. You just start with a baked cake of any flavor. You are going to crumble it up anyway. You can also use a leftover cake from a party or whatever. Just crumble and mix with frosting that is already on it, form balls and then coat it. Or stick them in freezer for anytime you need a quick dessert. You can also do as balls without using the sticks. I use toothpicks to dip them.

How Do I Make Cake balls (or pops)?

Here is how you make Cake balls (or pops):

Preheat oven according to cake mix directions. Mix cake mix, eggs, oil and water and mix. Pour into a 13 x 9 cake pan and bake till done (about 30 minutes). Let cool.Once it is cool, crumble into a bowl, making sure there are no crispy bits. Mix about 3/4 of the tub of frosting into the mix and form into balls. Put on waxed paper on a cookie sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.Melt chocolate coating about 1-2 minutes. It is best to use a deeper bowl that you can dip the cake balls into and coat easily. When candy is almost melted, stir brisky and add corn or vegetable oil, about 1 tsp at a time, mixing well until it is fairly thin.Get the sticks and cake balls ready. Dip tip of stick in the frosting about 1/4" then poke into the cake ball and leave it. This will help make the stick stay in the ball when you dip it.When those are set, dip cake ball into the candy coating and set upside down on the wax paper OR you can get that styrofoam flower base stuff and stick the cake ball, ball side up, in the styrofoam to dry. Decorate as desired. You can also google "cake pops" for some video's. It gets easier the more you do it.
