Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in an ovenproof skillet or an 8- or 9-inch cake pan. Stir in the brown sugar and continue to stir over low heat for 2 minutes. Add the pineapple juice and continue stirring until sugar dissolves; remove from heat. Arrange the pineapple rings in one layer in the pan (1 in the center, surrounded by the other 5), and the cherry halves cut-side up into the center of the rings; set aside.Melt the remaining 8 tablespoons butter in a small pan.
