1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 tsp. Cream of Tartar

How Do I Make T's Strawberries-n-Sponge Cake?

Here is how you make T's Strawberries-n-Sponge Cake:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together into small bowl.Separate the eggs, placing the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another large bowl. Let come to room temperature.Whip egg whites and cream of tartar until they form soft peaks, gradually add 1/4 cup granulated sugar until it is dissolved and the egg whites are glossy and form stiff peaks.Combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar with the 6 egg yolks and mix until sugar is dissolved and mixture is thickened. Add water,vanilla and lemon peel to egg yolk mixture. Mix well for about 1 minute with electric mixer.Fold dry ingredients into egg yolk mixture. Then fold whipped egg whites into egg yolk mixture. Pour into 10 inch tube pan(do NOT grease) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.Cool cake in pan upside down by placing the center of the pan on top of a glass bottle or upside down drinking glass for about 1 hour. Remove cake from pan by running knife along inside edges of pan.
