Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a nonstick bundt pan.Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the eggs, then the vanilla and buttermilk. Stir in the dry ingredients with a wooden spoon to keep the batter tender.Bake in the centre of the oven for 30 minutes, then test with a skewer.Cool for 10 minutes, and turn out onto a rack to cool completely.When cake is cool, glaze it.Boil the brown sugar and water for 5 minutes, then put pot in cold water bath stirring all the while. When it thickens, pour it over the cake.
