I used an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie recipe that I grew up with and gave it a healthy twist. It could be healthier if you used all unsweetened ingredients, use agave nectar instead of sugar, whole wheat flour in place of the white flour and 4 eggs whites in place of the 2 eggs. I will be trying that recipe soon. I will also try to make a gluten free version.

Here is how you make Gert's Trail Mix Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Preheat oven to 375. In a cup whisk together the buttermilk and baking soda until it foams up, set aside. In a large mixing bowl cream together the margarine, sugar, eggs and milk with wooden spoon. Mix in the buttermilk mixture. Add oatmeal and flour, mix until smooth. Add all the rest of the ingredients. Mix until well blended. Scoop dough with a spoon onto cookie sheet(s).
