1/3 C. low-fat buttermilk, at room temp.

1 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
1 tbls. light corn syrup
1 tbls. fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1-2 tbls water
1/4 c. unsweetened Dutch process Cocoa powder

Here is how you make Black and White Cookie:

Whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside. With an electric mixer on medium, beat the butter and granulated sugar, until fluffy. Beat in the egg, lemon zest, and vanilla. Add /3 of the flour mixture, beating until smooth. Beat in half of the buttermilk. Repeat with another 1/3 of the flour mixture and the remaining buttermilk, beating well after after each addition; then beat in the remaining flour mixture. Drop the dough by tablespoons on two parchment lined baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Smooth each one into rounds. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake untill golden on bottom, about 10 min. Take them out and cool on racks.For the Frosting:Stir together the confectioner's sugar, corn syrup, lemon juice, vanilla, and 1 tbls. of the water in a small bowl until smooth. Transfer about half of the frosting to another bowl and stir in the cocoa powder adding the remaing water, to make the same consistency as the white frosting.
