Here is how you make Date and Oat Cookies:

Mix shortening, apple sauce, sugars and vanilla together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well in between. Sift together dry ingredients except oats. Slowly add dry mix to wet. Once combined add coconut, nuts, and dates. Mix well. Bake at 350 for 12 mins or until golden brown.
