Put the clean cranberries and the pears in a blender. Add the boiling hot syrup, cover the blender and puree until smooth.Set a strainer in a 2 quart mixing bowl, and set the mixing bowl in a larger mixing bowl that has been filled with ice and some water.Pour the cranberry-pear-sugar mixture out of the blender and into the strainer. Use a wooden spoon to force as much through the strainer as you can. The pectin in the strawberries will make this a bit gloppy.Stir the mixture until cool. Chill in the ice bath or refrigerator until cold.
