Heat to a simmer over medium.Meanwhile, whisk the 5 egg yolks until frothy (about 30 seconds). Add the remaining 2 T xylitol and 3T cornstarch and whisk until smooth and a light yellow.Once the milk/cream mixture has reached the "simmer" stage, gradually whisk 1 cup of the hot mixture into the egg mixture to temper the eggs. Then gradually add the egg mixture to the hot mixture in the saucepan, continuing to cook and whisk at least a minute. When the mixture has become very thick and smooth, remove from heat.
