Cream Sugar and Shortening. Beat in egg and molasses. Combine dry ingredients (Flour, soda, salt and spices) and add to batter. Mix in raisins. Chill dough 1/2 hour. Roll into balls (about 1 TBSP of dough per cookie( and roll in sugar. Bake 8-10 mins on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees.
