1 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup coarse semolina
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons pine nuts or raw peanuts (Optional- I didn't include in calorie count)


How Do I Make Greek Halva?

Here is how you make Greek Halva:

1) Dissolve sugar in water and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. leave aside2)Melt butter in a heavy-based saucepan3) Stir in semolina and nuts if you are using. Increase heat to moderately high and stir constantly until semoline is golden brown (about 10-15 minutes)4) Remove from heat.5)Reheat syrup to boling point and pour into semolina, stirring constantly.6) Return to low heat, add cinnamon and stir until smooth and bubbling. Cook for 2 minutes.7)Turn off heat, cover pan with a fold tea towel and put lid on.8)Leave for 15 minutes then spread halvas in a 10 inch pie dish.9) Leave until cool.I use a 9 inch pie glass dish or a sqaure dish.
