Here is how you make Oatmeal Date Bars:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease an 8x8 inch pan.Combine dates, milk, sugar and vanilla in saucepan and cook over medium heat 8 to 10 mins, stirring occasionally or until thickened. Remove from heat.Beat butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add in flour, oats, salt, soda and cinnamon. With floured fingers press half of this dough mix in pan.
