(You can speed up this process by heating the milk in the microwave) Mix cornstarch, sugar & salt with 1/4 cup cold milk. Add the mixture gradually to the hot milk, stir and cook over lightly boiling water until thick. When it becomes thick enough, cover and cook for 20 minutes. "Temper" the well beaten egg yolks with a spoonful of the hot pudding and then add the mixture back into the pot.
