What Are The Ingredients For Lime Pie Recipe?The ingredients for Lime Pie are: Piecrust:1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/3 cup plus 1 T. solid vegetable shortening (Crisco) 2 1/2 - 3 T. ice cold water Filling: 4 lge. egg yolks 1 can (14 oz) fat free sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk) 1 tsp. grated lime zest Optional: few drops of green food coloring 1 cup chilled heavy whipping cream 2 T. powdered sugar How Do I Make Lime Pie?Here is how you make Lime Pie: Prepare piecrust: In med. sz bowl, stir together flour and salt. Add shortening all at once. With pastry blender, or two knives, cut shortening into flour until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Preheat oven to 450.Quickly sprinkle ice water 1 T. at a time over flour mixture. (Dough should not be sticky) Use hands to shape dough into a ball. Flatten with palm of hand and using a lightly floured rolling pin roll out on floured counter top. Use light strokes from center to edge of dough. Fold dough in half and then again in quarter wedge. Transfer dough to 9 inch pie plate and unfold. Create your edge with fork or fingers. Prick pie shell with fork to prevent puffing during baking. Chill 30 minutes. Bake 8-10 minutes.FILLING:In medium size bowl, beat egg yolks with electric mixer for about 5 minutes or until thick and lemon colored. Add condensed milk, lime zest, lime juice and food color; beat until smooth. Turn into baked pie shell, spreading evenly. (Filling will be soft). Referigerate pie several hours or overnight. In chilled med. size bowl beat cream and powdered sugar with electric mixer until stiff peaks form when beaters are lifted. Spread over pie.
