Line a jelly roll pan with tinfoil. Lay out soda crackers (9 x 5) across the pan. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together over high heat until boiling. Once boiling, maintain heat and stir constantly for 3 minutes to allow to caramelize. Add vanilla and immediately pour over soda crackers, spreading evenly. Bake for about 7 minutes, until soda crackers let off gas from the butter. Note that they will burn quickly once the soda reaction has finished, so it is important to watch closely. Turn off oven and remove pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly across crackers/sugar and return to oven (not on, but still warm) for about 3 minutes. Remove from oven and spread chocolate across crackers using the back of a spoon. Sprinkle almonds on top.Allow to cool completely at room temperature. Break into 45 cracker-sized pieces.
