Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in currants and crystallizsed ginger. Make a well in the center of the mixture.2. In a small bowl, stir together the egg, whipping cream and molassess; add all at once to flour misture. Using a fork, stir until ingredients are combined.3. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead dough for 10-12 strokes or until smooth. Divide dough in half. lightly pat or roll each dough half into a 5" circle about 3/4 " thick. cut into 6 wedges. Place wedges about 2 " apart on a large ungreased baking sheet. May brush tops with beaten egg white and sprinkle with coarse sugar (this is opt.)4. Bake in a 375 oven for 12-15 minutes.
