Here is how you make Connie's Snickerdoodles:

Beat butter with mixer. Add 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Beat until combined. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour. Cover and chill dough about 1 hour or until easy to handle. Combine the 2 Tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-11 minutes or until egdes are golden. Transfer to wire rack to cool.
