Add ham bone, and sauteed onions and chopped bacon to pot, bring to boil again on high and simmer for another 60 minutes. Remove ham bone, add chopped ham, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and celery, add seasoning to taste ( I use a bit of garlic powder and black pepper). Simmer on low heat until the beans and potatoes are done and chowder has thickened. 1/2 hour before serving add 1 c milk.
