How Do I Make Bean with Ham and Bacon Chowder?

Here is how you make Bean with Ham and Bacon Chowder:

Boil beans, barley lentils and split peas in 4 quarts of water, let sit for 60 minutes, drain and rinse. re-add beans to pot with 12 cups of water. Add ham bone, and sauteed onions and chopped bacon to pot, bring to boil again on high and simmer for another 60 minutes. Remove ham bone, add chopped ham, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and celery, add seasoning to taste ( I use a bit of garlic powder and black pepper). Simmer on low heat until the beans and potatoes are done and chowder has thickened. 1/2 hour before serving add 1 c milk.
