The ingredients for Curried Burger Lettuce Wraps are:

1.5 lbs. Ground Venison (deer) or Ground Beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2.5 Cups water or chicken broth
(optional: 2 tsp. chicken bouillon, if not using broth)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. curry powder
1 Tbs. honey
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 cup Quinoa, brown rice or couscous
1 head of iceburg lettuce
1 apple
1/2 green pepper of any kind


How Do I Make Curried Burger Lettuce Wraps?

Here is how you make Curried Burger Lettuce Wraps:

Brown your meat with the celery and 1/2 of the chopped onion in a skillet. If using beef, drain the grease once it is cooked. Add spices, water/chicken broth and quinoa (or other grain) to the skillet and bring to a boil. Cover, and reduce heat to a simmer for about 30 minutes (done once water is absorbed and grain is cooked, varies between grains.)While the filling is cooking, cut the iceburg head a little less than in half (I cut it in 'half' on one side of the core.) Peel away the 'cups' gently. If this does not make enough cups then you can cut the head from the other side of the core to make more. Be gentle with the cups, try not to get any tears, these need to hold the mixture.Also while the meat mixture is cooking, you can make the apple salsa to go on top. Mix in the remaining 1/2 of the chopped onion, with 1/2 a chopped green pepper of any kind (I use Anehiem), and a little less than the whole apple, chopped. Try to get even ratios of apple, to onion to pepper. When this is done squeeze 1/2 a lime over the salsa, sprinkle with pepper and mix.To assemble wraps, take a few spoonfuls of the meat mixture and place them in eat lettuce cups. Top with a little bit of apple salsa!!!!!I love these!!!! They are delicious and nutritious. I used Venison since it is low in fat, but you can use any kind of meat really.
