Also, for crock pot cooking just chop the cabbage into about 4 large pieces and cook for about 8 hours on low. How Do I Make Steph2003's Cooked Cabbage?Here is how you make Steph2003's Cooked Cabbage: Makes about 8, 1 cup servings.Fill a large pot (I use an 8 qt. pot) 3/4 full of water, turn on medium heat.Chop cabbage into bite sized pieces and add to pot.Fry 4-6 slices of bacon to get the grease, and throw out the bacon.Stir in salt, red pepper, and bacon grease, then cover and boil until cabbage is very tender, about 2 hours. Dip out cabbage with a little of the water if you're planning to put in in the frige for later, and disgard the remaining water. *Note the bacon grease really adds a great flavor, but you can substitute a cube of beef, chicken, or vegetable bouillon instead, and just leave out the salt.
