In large pot, heat oil and add chicken pieces and onion. Cook until chicken is golden brown.Add chopped tomato, garlic, bell pepper, cilantro, and curry leaves. Stir.Add spices and Maggi cubes. Stir.Saute until tomato is mushy. Add water. Bring to boil and then lower fire. Simmer for 30-40 minutes.Add uncooked basmati rice to the stew. Stir gently. Bring to boil and then lower fire to very low. Cover and cook 17 minutes. Remove lid.
