1 teaspoon dried basil

1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
dash of cayenne
1/8 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Here is how you make Missy's Chicken and Rice Mexican-Style Casserole:

Preheat oven at 400 degrees.Heat cast iron skillet with olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and red and green peppers and cook until tender. Add Rice-a-Roni mix with seasoning packet and stir for a couple minutes, until vermicelli is golden brown. Add chicken broth and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Mixture will remain moist. Place rice mixture, chicken, tomatoes, chile peppers, and seasonings in a large mixing bowl and blend well. Pour the entire mixture into a two quart, lidded casserole dish. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes.
