20 whole peppercorns = 1 TBSP ground
3 bay leaves = 3/4 tsp crumbled

2 lbs dried split green peas (5 cups), rinsed
2 carrots, chopped

5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried sage
fresh black pepper (to taste) - I left the whole peppercorns in above & didn't add here
