1 pound package of dry pinto beans
1 pound 93% lean ground beef
1/2 medium size onion (chopped)
1 clove of garlic (chopped)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 package chili seasoning mix
1 6oz can of tomato paste


How Do I Make Basic Chili Beans?

Here is how you make Basic Chili Beans:

Rinse 1 pound of dry pinto beans and add to crock pot. Fill crock 2/3rds way with water (depends on size of crock - mine is small). Cook on low for about 9 hours. Add water if needed as hours pass by. Brown ground beef adding chopped onion, chopped garlic, salt and pepper while browning. After beans have cooked add the meat mixture, chili seasoning pack, and tomato paste to crock. Mix well making sure paste is mixed in well. Add water (if needed) if chili seems to thick. Let cook in crock on low for another 10 - 20 minutes. I like to serve this with a table spoon of light sour cream and a little cheese (these are not included in the nutritional info).
