1 lb. beef chuck cubes cut into bite sized pieces
24 oz. canned tomatoes - I used home canned tomatoes
2 14oz cans of light red kidney beans, include liquid
2 14oz cans of dark red kidney beans, include liquid
2 packets McCormick Original Chili Seasoning mix


How Do I Make Basic Chili?

Here is how you make Basic Chili:

In a slow cooker or crock pot mix chili seasoning packets and tomatoes. Add all 4 cans of kidney beans. If you are adding onions or peppers add them now. Set on high.Brown beef in a medium skillet for about 5-10 minutes until the cubes are about medium rare (a little longer if you prefer well done meat). Add beef to crock pot, leave on high for 2 hours then reduce to low and cook for an additional 4 to 6 hours. Or to reduce cooking time leave on high for a total of 4 hours.I don't know how many servings this makes, I usually freeze half for later use.Can be eaten as is or used to top omelets, baked potatoes, hot dogs or nacho chips.Number of Servings: 10Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user SBHOUSER.
