The ingredients for Persian Mince are:

500g lean beef mince
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tsp ground cumin
3 tsp ground coriander
2 medium tomatoes, chopped OR 1 tin chopped tomotoes in tomato juice
2 tbsp (approx 30g) sultanas/golden raisins
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (240g drained wt)
handful of chopped fresh mint (probably about 4 tbsp when chopped)
1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander/cilantro (optional)
250ml beef or vegetable stock
2 tbsp olive oil


How Do I Make Persian Mince?

Here is how you make Persian Mince:

Heat the oil and fry the garlic, onions and dry spices for a few minutes before adding the mince. Add mince in small "chunks" to brown, stirring the mix together until the mince is browned and well separated. Pour in the stock and bring to the boil. Lower the heat, add sultanas and chickpeas then simmer for 15 minutes. Finally add the tomato and fresh herbs and warm through thoroughly before serving.Serve with couscous or rice and vegetables of your choice.
