Add the orzo and cook according to package directions, usually about 8 or 9 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Remove the sausage from the casings and brown it in the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon or spatula. Lower the heat to medium and add the garlic, onion, carrot and pepper and stir.
