How Do I Make Pork Shoulder Ribs with an Asian Flare?

Here is how you make Pork Shoulder Ribs with an Asian Flare:

This recipe yields 8 servings (about 1/2 pork shoulder rib each). I used a 5 quart dutch oven.Combine salt, pepper, star aniseed powder and curry powder. Rinse the ribs and pat dry. Sprinkle seasoning mixture on all sides of the ribs and rub in. Heat 1/2 tbsp of sesame oil on med. high heat in a dutch oven, brown two of the ribs on all sides, and transfer to a plate. Use remaining 1/2 tbsp sesame oil to repeat browning procedure on the other two ribs. Combine all remaining ingredients, except the minced garlic, in a bowl. Brown minced garlic slightly in empty dutch oven (about 30 seconds) over med. high heat, add the remaining ingredients, and stir with a wooden spoon, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add 5 cups of water, and stir well. Add the pork and any accumulated juices making sure the liquid completely covers the ribs. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat and cover. Continue to simmer on low heat until fork tender, about 1hr. and 10 min.Number of Servings: 8Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user CCFAM09.
